How it works: The tool uses browser-image-compression to apply lossy (JPEG/WebP) or lossless (PNG) compression at your chosen quality level. The quality slider maps directly to the encoder quality — 75% means the encoder targets 75% fidelity, which is imperceptible to most viewers.
Max width: Setting a max width also downscales images wider than that value, which often gives the biggest file size reduction. A 6000px wide photo downscaled to 1920px loses no quality in most viewing contexts and can be 10× smaller.
Best quality setting: For photographs, 75–80% is optimal. For screenshots or images with text, use 85–90% to preserve sharp edges.
