1. Who We Are

want2convert.com ("we", "our", "the site") is a free online file conversion and editing service. Many of our tools run entirely in your web browser; some tools process your file on our server, as explained in section 2. Our contact email is hello@want2convert.com.

2. Files You Process

Tools that run in your browser

Tools that run in your browser use WebAssembly (WASM) and JavaScript libraries on your device. For these tools, the files you select are never transmitted to our servers, and we do not store, log, or retain their contents, filenames, or metadata.

Tools that process files on our server

Some tools need software that cannot run inside a browser. When you use one of these tools, the file (or text, password, or web address) you provide is sent from your browser to our conversion service, processed there, and the result is sent back to you. These tools are:

The conversion service saves your upload in a temporary folder only while it is being processed, and deletes both the uploaded file and the converted result from the server as soon as the conversion has been completed and returned to you. We do not keep copies, we do not review the contents of your files, and we do not use them for any other purpose.

Each tool page tells you whether it runs in your browser or on our server. If you do not want a file to leave your device, please use a browser-only tool.

3. Data We Collect

We collect minimal data to operate the site:

• Server access logs — Standard web server logs (IP address, page URL, timestamp, browser user agent) are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period for security and debugging. We do not sell them.
• Cookie choice — Your choice to accept or reject analytics and advertising cookies is stored in your browser's localStorage (key w2c-consent), not in a cookie. It stays on your device and is never sent to us. You can change it at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer.
• Language preference — When you pick a language, a small first-party cookie (w2c_locale) remembers it for a year so we can show the site in that language. It holds only a language code, contains no personal data, and is not used for tracking or advertising. We choose your initial language from your browser's language setting and your country (derived from your IP address at request time, not stored).
• Automatic language notice — When we automatically show the site in a language chosen for you, we set a short-lived first-party cookie (w2c_auto) that expires after about a minute, so that we can offer you a way back to the original language. It contains no personal data.
• Currency converter location — The Currency Converter pre-selects your local currency using your approximate country, derived from your IP address at request time and not stored. If you click "Use my location", your browser asks for permission and, if you agree, your coordinates rounded to about 11 km are sent to a reverse-geocoding service (BigDataCloud) to find your country. Nothing is saved on our servers; your last chosen currency pair is kept only in your browser's localStorage (key w2c-currency).
• Files and text for server tools — Files, text, passwords or web addresses you submit to a server tool are processed temporarily and deleted afterwards, as described in section 2.

We do not require account registration. We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information as part of using the tools.

4. Cookies and Google AdSense

We may display advertisements provided by Google AdSense. Google uses cookies and similar technologies to show personalised ads. These are third-party cookies controlled by Google, not by us. Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by their Privacy Policy.

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the analytics and advertising scripts load only after you click Accept in the cookie banner. In other countries they load by default, and you can turn them off at any time by clicking Reject or by using Cookie settings in the footer. To decide which rule applies, we look at your approximate country from your IP address when you first visit; we do not store it. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings or use the opt-out options below.

6. Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site, on all pages where you have not rejected analytics (and, in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, only after you accept). Google Analytics uses cookies and collects usage data such as the pages you view, approximate location, and device and browser information. We do not send the contents or names of your files to Google Analytics.

Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

7. Fonts and Other Third-Party Resources

The fonts used across the site are served from our own domain. A few tools load additional fonts directly from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com) when you use them, for example the typed signature styles in the Sign PDF tool and the handwriting styles in the Text to Handwriting tool. When this happens, your browser sends a request to Google, which can include your IP address and browser information.

Apart from Google (Analytics, AdSense and Fonts) and the infrastructure providers that host the site and run its file-conversion service, we do not share data with third parties, other than the optional location lookup described in section 3 (BigDataCloud), which only happens if you click "Use my location" in the Currency Converter.

8. Your Rights

Under GDPR and CCPA, you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you. Since we collect almost no personal data, there is typically very little to act on — but please contact us at hello@want2convert.com if you have any requests.
