Combining Word documents by hand is copy-paste roulette: styles collide, numbering restarts, headers vanish, and one document's formatting bleeds into another. It happens because DOCX files carry their own style definitions, and pasting content between them forces Word to reconcile two competing sets. This tool merges at the document level instead — each file's content is appended with a page break, keeping its own formatting intact.
The classic use cases:assembling a report from chapters written by different people, combining a proposal with its appendices, stitching contract sections maintained separately, or joining a thesis's front matter, body, and bibliography files into one submission document.
Order and boundaries: documents are merged in the order you upload them, and every document starts on a fresh page — no content from two files ever shares a page. Fonts, bold and italic runs, lists, and tables carry through; deeply customised styles, cross-references, and fields that point between documents may need a review pass in Word afterwards.
DOCX only, by design: the merge operates on the modern Open XML format. Older .doc files should be saved as .docx first (File → Save As in Word or LibreOffice — a lossless conversion).
