How to Trim an Audio File Online

Upload your audio file

Drag the trim handles
Drag the left handle to set the start point and the right handle to set the end point. Click Play Section to preview the selected range.

Click Trim Audio. Your MP3 is cut on our server without re-encoding, which is fast and keeps the audio data unchanged. Download your trimmed file.

Lossless trimming: For MP3 files, FFmpeg uses stream copy — no quality is lost and processing is near-instant. Your MP3 is uploaded to our server for trimming and is not stored; only MP3 files are supported.
How to set the clip: Choose an MP3 and wait for the player and timeline to appear; they show once the browser has read the length of the file. Drag the left handle to the start time and the right handle to the end time. When a file loads, the selection starts at 0:00 and ends at 30 seconds, or at the end of the track if it is shorter. The Play button plays only the selected section and stops at the end handle, so you can check the cut before you send anything. Listen for the exact word, beat or note you want to start on, then adjust the handles and preview again.
Good to know: This tool is for MP3 files only; to work with another format, convert it to MP3 first with Convert Audio. Unlike most tools on this site, the trimming itself happens on our server, because it uses FFmpeg. Your MP3 is sent over, cut, returned to you, and not stored. If you would rather not upload a file, do not use this tool. Because the audio is copied rather than re-encoded, the cut points follow the MP3 frame boundaries, so the start and end can be off by a small fraction of a second. The download is named after your file with -trimmed added.
Troubleshooting: If the timeline never appears, the file may be damaged or not a real MP3 despite its extension. If you see a network error, check your connection and try again. The upload box says the limit is 50 MB, so very large files may be rejected or take a long time to send. Changing a handle after trimming clears the earlier result, so press Trim Audio again before downloading.
