CSV files are lightweight and universal, but they lack Excel's formatting, formula support, and multi-sheet structure. Converting to XLSX lets you take advantage of Excel's full feature set — sorting, filtering, charts, conditional formatting, and pivot tables — without manually importing the data.

What happens during conversion: SheetJS parses your CSV, detecting quoted fields, embedded commas, and multi-line values. Each row maps to a spreadsheet row and each delimited value to a cell. Numbers are stored as numeric cells so Excel can apply math and formatting immediately. Text cells retain their exact string value.
Limitations: CSV carries only raw values — no formulas, no styling, no charts. These cannot be created from a CSV source alone. The output XLSX will be a clean single-sheet workbook you can then format and extend in Excel or Google Sheets.
