How accurate is the extraction?

Does it work with scanned PDFs?

No. Scanned PDFs contain images of text rather than actual text data. Only PDFs with selectable text can be converted. Use Image to Text (OCR) on scanned pages first.

How it works: The tool uses pdfjs-dist to extract all text items from each PDF page, along with their exact x/y coordinates. Text items at similar vertical positions are grouped into rows. Horizontal gaps between items are used to infer column boundaries. The resulting grid is written into an .xlsx file using SheetJS, with each PDF page on its own Excel sheet.

Best results: The tool works best on PDFs with simple, single-column tables and consistent spacing. Data-dense reports with clear column headers convert particularly well.

When to expect limitations: Merged cells, multi-level headers, rotated text, and tables split across two columns on the same page may not extract cleanly. Always verify the output and adjust column widths after downloading.
